Is Male Infertility Genetic?

Male infertility factors are the cause for 30 percent of all infertility cases. Unlike women, male infertility isn't physically obvious, and researchers have had a tough time figuring out exactly what causes men to be infertile.

Intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is an infertility procedure designed especially for infertile men. This technique's first success was in 1992, and since then thousands of ICSI babies have been born.

Today, the first round of ICSI babies are in their teenage years, the time where reproductive issues start to manifest. Infertility specialists are especially worried about the fertility of boys that were conceived with ICSI. Some experts believe that male infertility can be passed from father to son in DNA, which raises some very important questions: Is male infertility genetic? If so, what does this mean for the fertility of future generations?
