Drugs to Help Egg Production May Be Harmful to Eggs

In-vitro fertilization (IVF) is a common infertility treatment, especially amongst women over the age of 40 who want to have a baby.

But a new study shows that the fertility drugs used to stimulate the ovaries into producing more eggs could be quite harmful if a child is conceived.

Scientists in the UK believe that these fertility drugs actually increase abnormalities in chromosomes, which before was thought to be caused by a woman's age.

These faulty chromosomes can lead to conditions like Down's Syndrome, Edwards Syndrome and more commonly, miscarriage.
